Brynlea | Thomasville Senior

I’ve known Brynlea’s mom since I was a baby. I had not, however met Brynlea before. So when she showed up to her senior session, she was a bit nervous (totally normal) and somewhat shy as most seniors are.

She was wearing a super cute tan dress for her first outfit. I like to include an outfit change for seniors because I like for them to show off their full personality. I personally am not confined to one style when it comes to how I represent myself and I know I’m not alone in that.

We got some cute shots of her in the dress then I told her she can go ahead and change if she wanted.  She said she brought some blue jeans, boots, and a black shirt but her mom didn’t really like the black.  That’s what most of her wardrobe is though.

Now, I know mama just wanted to get photos of her girl in bright, pretty colors, but that just wasn’t what Brynlea was comfortable in. I told her to put the black shirt on and let me see.  As soon as she was in what she knows and likes best, her confidence levels changed almost immediately.  I told her mom we should definitely go with that one.

This wasn’t to completely contradict what her mom wanted. But after doing this for over 8 years, I know that the confidence, smiles, and personality I can bring out of their teenager far outweighs the color or style of the clothes in the images.

All of this to say, I believe when it comes to senior sessions, the best photos come when they’re able to be themselves.  Besides, the point of these sessions is to capture them in the here and now before they go out to take on the real world. So let’s let them be them for just a little longer.
